A Congregational church is a supremely simple way of being church. It is what happens when people come to Christ, and seek to serve and witness together, with total trust in God.
Congregationalists are so called because they believe that all members of the congregation should share in the direction of the church’s affairs through their Church Meetings.
Congregationalism does not recognise any human being as head of the church. It has no bishops nor committees nor external authority to impose their will on the independent gathered church.
Congregationalism upholds the equality of all believers, men and women. The ministry is not a separate and priestly class. The church Jesus founded was a fellowship, a way, a communion, and a “household of faith”, not an institution.
